Routes gravel through the Cerdanya

One of the widest valleys in the Pyrenees, at an altitude of more than 1,000 m, offers an unbeatable setting for gravel riding: kilometers of forest trails, river paths, and climbs to high-mountain shelters.

La Cerdanya stretches from east to west along the Segre River, where Catalonia, France, and Andorra meet. Its open terrain and the network of trails connecting its towns make it one of the best spots on the peninsula for gravel biking, whether you’re just starting out or looking for some serious elevation gain. Here are three suggestions for three different skill levels.

Route 01 · Beginner

Segre Circuit

A flat loop that starts in Puigcerdà and follows the Segre River across the plain, passing through fields and along dirt roads between Bolvir, Ger, and Sanavastre. Almost entirely on dirt roads with very little traffic: the perfect route for your first gravel ride or for a leisurely day of cycling with the family.

Route 02 · Moderate to difficult

Puigcerdà – Malniu

From Puigcerdà toward Saneja and Guils de Cerdanya, with a steady climb along the cross-country ski trails to the Feixa and Malniu mountain huts, at an elevation of around 2,100 m. The descent goes through Meranges, a long, smooth ride downhill. It combines stretches of quiet paved road with plenty of mountain trails.

Route 03 · Challenging

Tracks Cerdanya · Bellver–Prullans

A stage of the legendary Tracks Cerdanya Through the Lower Cerdanya: from Bellver and Prullans to the purely alpine setting of Aransa, descending along a forest trail to Músser and Travesseres, and returning via Martinet. A challenging and varied route for gravel riders with strong legs and a desire for sweeping scenery.

5 Outdoor Experiences You Should Try at Least Once

There are adventures that change you, that truly connect you with nature and with yourself.
It doesn't matter if you're a beginner or have been into the outdoors for years: these five experiences—some intense, others simple— They're the kind of experiences you should have at least once in your life.

And yes: skiing, surfing, and mountain biking should be at the top of this list.

1. Skiing down your first slope with fresh snow

There's no feeling quite like it: silence, controlled speed, the snow crunching under your skis, and that perfect blend of adrenaline and calm.
Your first run in good conditions is a real turning point.
It doesn't matter if it's a green run or a gentle red run: the moment you connect with the mountain, you're hooked for life.

Tip: If you're just starting out, renting the Material will let you try out different equipment and make faster progress.

2. Catching your very first wave

It could be in Somo, Zarautz, Fuerteventura, or wherever you want… but there’s one moment that all surfers remember:
The one where you paddle hard, feel the wave lift you up, stand up, and finally glide across the water.

It lasts only a few seconds, but it leaves a lasting impression.
Surfing teaches you patience, respect for the ocean, and humility: every session is different, and that's what makes it addictive.

3. Go on a mountain bike ride along nature trails

The first time you ride through a series of curves, tree roots, small rocks, and fast sections while feeling at one with your bike… it’s pure freedom.
MTB has something special about it: it demands technical skill, but it also gives you an incredible connection to the terrain.

From flow trails in the Pyrenees to coastal paths along the Galician coast, Spain is a paradise for cycling with stunning views.

Tip: If you don't have a bike suitable for mountain biking, renting a full-suspension bike will open up a whole new world for you.

4. Witnessing a sunrise in the wilderness

It doesn't matter if you arrive on cross-country skis, by bike, or on foot:
Watching the sunrise in a remote place is one of the most powerful experiences you can have.

The first light streaming through snow-capped peaks, glinting off the sea, or illuminating a forest… puts you in your place.
It is a blend of peace, vastness, and gratitude that is hard to forget.

5. Take a multi-adventure getaway: snow one day and surfing the next

Few things capture the essence of the outdoors quite like combining different sports on a single trip.
Skiing in the Pyrenees and surfing the next day on the Basque or Cantabrian coast? It's totally possible.
A mountain bike ride through Galician forests, ending with a swim at a secluded beach? That, too.

Spain is a unique destination for this kind of adventure: diverse, accessible, and perfect for traveling light by renting your gear once you arrive.

Adventure is out there, and it starts with a “Why not?”

You don't need a lot of preparation, expensive Material, or weeks off.
All you need is enthusiasm, curiosity, and the desire to experience something that takes you out of your routine.

Outdoor experiences can't be put into words: are experienced.
And these five are the best place to start for anyone who wants to truly experience nature.
